Introduction to the Three V's of Professional Presence
In the first week, you will be introduced to the Verbal, Vocal, and Visual aspects of speaking in a professional manner. This can be applied to every aspect of communication throughout your daily life including workplace meetings, sales presentations, and public speaking events. We also provide you with general speaking tips to get you started and some advice on how to speak more persuasively.
In the the second week, you will be focusing on the vocal aspect of the Three V's. This includes a look at rate of speech, things you can do to speak with more authority, and how you can care for your voice to speak with clarity at all times.
The third week is all about the Verbal aspect of the Three V's. This dives into grammar and vocabulary, how to improve your verbal tics (umms & ahs), and a look at pronouns.
In the fourth week, you will be focusing on the visual aspect of The Three V's. You will learn about how to present yourself visually for more effective communication. This includes facial expressions, speaking with your hands, how to stand and eye-contact.
PresentationsIn the fifth week, we will be focusing on how to Organize a Presentation and Giving a PowerPoint Presentation. You will learn tactics to reduce your nerves and make speaking in front of a crowd easier. We'll also review Powerpoint as an effective visual aid and how you can check that your Powerpoints enhance the presentation, not become the presentation.
Public SpeakingIn the sixth week, you will be introduced to these public speaking aspects: General Tips, Overcoming Fear and Nervousness. Public speaking anxiety is common, but this weeks course will address common concerns and provide practical advice for any setting. This course will help you to embrace the opportunities to speak and share your knowledge!
In The WorkplaceIn the seventh week, you will practice aspects that effect you in the workplace like: Uptalk, Small Talk and Executive Presence. You’ll learn what is uptalk and how you can be mindful of it. Also taught this week is how to break down communication walls with your audience and how to avert conversation-killing questions.
Listening, Networking, and Phone CallsIn the eighth week, we will focus on aspects of Active Listening, Telephone Skills and Networking. What is the difference between listening and hearing? This question will be answered in this week’s course along with tips to communicate effectively over the telephone and use working memory to maintain a conversation.
