How Do You Begin Your Sentences?

Do you begin each sentence the same way? Is “so” and/or “and” a frequently used sentence starter for you?

Here is another in a series of newsletters to show you how AI (Artificial Intelligence) can help you speak more concisely and confidently when speaking. I’ve been using the Yoodli AI-Platform (www.yoodli.ai) since its inception in 2022 and, as a Yoodli Coach Advisor, I witnessed how it has evolved to include outstanding features. My white-label Advantage Platform includes my own video content and courses for my clients.

In the Yoodli analysis, you will find a feature called “Sentence Starter.” Look to see if you are using the same words with a high frequency. For example, if you use the word “and” more than 25% of the time, this is a clear indication that you are not stopping or pausing. You are linking all your thoughts together and you are not giving your audience time to absorb your information.

Many of us are guilty of beginning a remark with “So….” Yoodli can also identify this. Record yourself saying a sentence beginning with “so,” and then again without it. Which sentence sounds more confident?

One of the indicators of executive presence is to be comfortable with pauses and silence and to convey clear and concise sentences.

AI technology can help us become better speakers. If you want to learn more about the Advantage Platform, contact me at LKWilner@Successfully-Speaking.com.
